The SOCO Clubhouse Skatebox Derby is our one-of-a-kind, youth-powered twist on the classic soapbox derby — think Little Rascals meets DIY racing fun! Open to youth ages 6-18, this annual event invites participants to build their own non-motorized race cars and compete in a thrilling downhill race through the streets of Trinidad. Whether you're designing your car from scratch or using one of our Skatebox Kits, you'll gain hands-on experience in teamwork, creativity, and engineering. Participants can work solo, with family, or with our team of mentors to get their cars race-ready. 🛠️ Need help building? We offer scheduled build sessions where youth and a parent or guardian can work with us to bring their vision to life — no prior experience needed! 💙 Worried about cost? We offer sponsorships for youth who cannot afford to build their own car. We believe every child deserves the chance to race, regardless of financial situation. 🏎️ Racers must register in advance, complete a waiver, pass inspection, and pay a $50 registration fee per car. 🎉 Awards are given for speed, style, and innovation — and everyone walks away a winner in our eyes.
